This tweet pretty much sums it up:

Songs about cities. Songs about states. Songs about highways. Songs about… boats. There’s a million of ‘em. But what about a song about a city that is named after two states? Amazing. And of course we have R.E.M. to thank for that. Here’s our spin on their classic, Texarkana. Hope you dig it.
We contributed a track to Idol Christmas, a compilation just released by our good pals at Idol Records. Too Much Snow is a tender song-morsel about the perils of shopping too late for your loved ones seasonal present. Plus it’s more or less secular, so it’s perfect for sharing with your international friends!

Here’s a simple little promo video we did for the aforementioned ditty:
Harry Nilsson Tribute & Trivia Night
Friday, December 2 – 8pm
Celebrating one of the great American singers and songwriters. This should be a cool night. Lots of great Austin artists singing some great songs. This isn’t a full El Cento show – I’lll be singing three songs solo. More info here:
Wherever You Are: A Tribute To Neil Finn and Crowded House
Thursday, December 8 – 8pm
Once again, this should be a cool night with (again) lots of great Austin artists singing some great songs. Not a full El Cento band show, but there will be a great house band. I’ll be singing three tunes and joining in on guitar on a few more. More info:
While in St. Louis we stopped by KDHX and played a few numbers in their lovely studio. Take a listen:
Very exciting. Very very exciting. We’re embarking on our second little road trip this Thursday. We’ll be headed to Memphis, St. Louis and Little Rock. As it turns out – and this is purely by accident – each of these lovely clubs serves that most miraculous of culinary circles: pizza. They also have live music – it’s not like we’re making a tour of Mazzio’s Pizza restaurants (though that’s not a bad idea for a sponsorship. Must make a note of that…).
Thursday, Sept 29 | Memphis, TN | The Hi-Tone Cafe
We had a great time at this legendary club a couple of months ago and are very excited to be back. Not only is the pizza great, but we’ll be opening for Richard Buckner (I bet he likes pizza).
Friday, Sept 30 | St. Louis, MO | Lemmons
It’s been years since any of us have played in the Gateway City, but it will be quite good to be back. Having sprung out of Southeast Missouri in the 90s, I suspect there will be a few familiar faces at this show. I’m hoping anyway. Looking forward to the pizza here. As well as The Union Electric, Tijuana Hercules, and Little Big Bangs (of course they like pizza).
We’re doing a little radio thing KDHX prior to the show. That’ll air the week of October 3rd. Like I said earlier: very exciting. (Pretty sure they don’t serve pizza at KDHX).
Saturday, Oct 1 | Little Rock, AR | Vino’s Brewpub
The venerable Vino’s. We’ve each played this place many years and several bands ago. In the intervening years, I’ve consumed approximately 5,678 slices of pizza. I’m looking forward to adding a few more.
Then it’s back to Dallas/Austin where we will consume only rectangular food for a fortnight.
That’s right: Actual merch. Get on over to the shop and grab yourself a little three-pack of El Cento buttons – only $2.00 (plus S&H). They’ll come in an envelope which you can keep or recycle. Or feed ‘em to the goat you keep tied up in your backyard. Hank is his name (right?) and he’s hungry.

After you’ve checked out the Track by Track interview, enjoy this bit of fluff from the cutting room floor.
If the gods of CD manufacturing are smiling on us, we’ll have CDs for sale this Saturday, May 21 at our Kessler show. If not we’ll for sure have them on June 8 at our Release show at Renfield’s Corner.
We’ve also cooked up a special edition of 3-color screen-printed packaging. This will be a simple CD wallet made of recycled chipboard (photo coming soon). We’re only printing 50 of these. We’ll have them up in the shop soon.
